There are way too many social sites on the Web than anyone can handle. If you are anything like me, you want to be involved on as many of them as possible. That means you’ll need to create a new account on those sites that you are not already a member of. Choosing a user name may not sound that important but it can tell a lot about what you are about. In most cases, you want your username to be your name (or your brand’s name). But of course if you are teaching a course, you may want to go with <topic>teacher, <topic>class, or something along those lines.

I don’t know about you but choosing a name on popular social media sites can get frustrating. Many top names are already taken, and I don’t even seem to be able to find a network that has my first name available for my user name. So you can see there is a need for a service that could tell us what names are available on what networks. Thanks to Namechk.com, you have that service. It’s a great tool that allows you to check for a username on various Web 2.0 sites without you having to leave the site.

NameChk shows you exactly what networks have your favorite username open. Can’t get more convenient than that. Who says you have to spend hours searching for usernames?
