Is Professional Blogging Your Cup Of Tea?

Blogging is a hip thing these days. Many young and old men and women start their own blogs in hopes of achieving big success and recognition. However, not every story has a happy ending. As an optimist, I have always wanted to believe that anyone can be a successful blogger if they bring hardword and a can-do attitude to the table. But at the end of the day, there are many factors that contribute to the success or failure of bloggers:

  • Are your risk averse: if you look at most successful professional bloggers, you’ll see that they have relied on more than just hardwork. There is always this life changing moment when these guys have put aside their fears and followed their dreams. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to do that. In this tough economy, it is very easy to get carried away and become more risk averse. You will need to have some risk tolerance to be able to make it in the blogging business.
  • Are you a learner: the blogging world is no place for stubborn people. If you are not willing to observe and learn from others, you will decay. Most successful professional bloggers have piggybacked on their fellow successful bloggers to develop blueprints to success in blogging. Not all the systems are similar but that’s what makes these super bloggers unique. They have all done tweaks to what’s already working to come up with better more effective business plans. The key here is to watch and learn from people who have made it and try to improve their systems.
  • Are you a pessimist: if you are, then you probably should look for another career. There are many tough moments in a blogger’s career, and pessimism is the fastest way to get back on the 9-5 race rate. At the end of the day, you want to have hope and shed your fears. It’s OK to be a pessimistic person in life, but if you bring it to your blogging career, then you are doomed right from the start.
  • Are you driven: this is the simple most important key success factor in blogging world. If you are ambitious and driven to get up 5 a.m every morning to try to achieve your goals, you will have no probelm handling the wear and tear of professional blogging. But if you just want to have a lazy career, you probably won’t make it. Blogging is not for lazy people. It’s take a lot of work, and if you don’t know where you are going, you are at a dead end.

Professional blogging sounds cool in after work parties, but in reality it is not for everyone. Super bloggers make blogging look easy but believe me it’s not! Every post that you make should be of high quality to provide unique value to your readers. It’s possible to do it for a couple of weeks or for a month, but sustaining that for more than a month or two is the real challenge.

So, is professional blogging your cup of tea?
