10 Ways To Drive Traffic To Your Blog In Less than a Day
A good solid blog with no traffic is as good as a dead blog. Traffic is the main issue that folks are concerned about when they start their blogs. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just focus on creating content for your blog and expect people to come to your site anyway? That’s obviously a nice dream to have. But driving traffic to a blog takes time and effort. My focus has always been on long-term traffic as a short-term boost in traffic does not necessary guarantee you success in the blogging world. Having said that, there are a few quick ways that you can use to drive traffic to your blog in less than a day, which brings me to:
10 Ways To Drive Traffic To a Blog Fast
- Google Adwords (and other pay-per-click services): perhaps the fastest way to drive traffic to your blog. Google Adwords is very powerful in driving targeted traffic to websites. Obviously, you will need to get the keyword research process right. This method can be very expensive however.
- StumbleUpon Ads: advertising on StumbleUpon can bring tons of traffic to your site for free or $0.05 per click. If people like what they see on your blog and vote it up, you can get even more free traffic from StumbleUpon.
- FaceBook: FaceBook is an underrated method of driving traffic to websites. If you have many friends on FaceBook, you can send them messages about your latest blog posts. Better yet, you should import your blog to your FaceBook account to automatically have your blog posts posted to FaceBook.
- Twitter: if you have lot of followers on Twitter, you can get the word out on Twitter and gain free traffic. One way to get more followers on Twitter is by following others in your market. Twitter is a very powerful traffic driver.
- Pinging: pinging blogging services such as Technorati can get the word out about your latest blog posts and bag you some free traffic. You can automate this process on Wordpress and other blogging platforms. You can also use Pingomatic.com or Pingoat.com to do this fast.
- RSS Feed: RSS feeds are often neglected by bloggers, but they can be used to drive tons of traffic to your site. By submitting your RSS feed to RSS aggregators, you can gain more exposure and get free traffic to your site. Feedage.com, Feedraider.com, and Feedagg.com are two RSS feed aggregators that come to mind.
- Social Bookmarking: if you have good solid content on your blog, you should submit it to del.icious, digg, reddit, and Propeller. You can also use the socialposter service to mass post to social bookmarking sites.
- Social Networking: I talked about FaceBook earlier. But you should not limit your social networking efforts to FaceBook only. You should also try LinkedIn, MySpace, and other social networking sites to get more exposure for your blog.
- Forums: by being involved in forums, you can make sure that you receive a nice stream of traffic to your blog everyday. Sign up for high traffic forums in your niche and include your blog URL in your signature. Make sure you contribute to conversations instead of just asking people to click on your link.
- Blog Comments: living comments on high traffic blogs can nap you some more free traffic. The key here is to find a blog that gets 100 to 200 comments on a daily basis. Make sure you contribute to the discussions there, and you will get a nice traffic boost as a result.
There you have it. The above methods can work for you short-term and long-term (with proper strategy). The hardest part is often getting the content part right. But if you are writing solid content consistently and have trouble getting traffic to your blog, you should try the above methods to get on the right track.
