These are tough times for the folks around the world. Whether you are a U.S. citizen or just a citizen of this world, the chances are you have been affected by the recent collapse of the global financial market. In these tough times, it is easy to get distracted and panic about the future.Thinking about the dooms day scenario can be a big distraction and an unproductive thought.
I have heard from a few folks that they are looking for part-time jobs to supplement their blogging income. While that is admirable, one needs to examine every option on the table before rushing to a new job. If you are a full-time blogger, getting a job and managing your blog full-time may not be as easy as it seems. So here are a few tips to keep hanging in there through these tough times:
- Give 110% Effort: I know. This may be not so attractive of an option on the paper. But think about it. You’ll always have time to slack off in the future. But when you are building your business, you should put as much time as you humanly can to grow your business. I am not suggesting that you should spend 24/7 on your blog as that would be unproductive, but you should not just give up on blogging because of your worries for the future.
- Develop new strategies: you should always readjust old strategies and develop new ones to keep growing your business. Most of us stick with what has worked for us in the past. But you cannot expect to follow the same path and achieve better results unless you make minor tweaks to your plans.
- Avoid being erratic: we heard this a lot from Barack Obama in the past few months. In tough times, it is easy to make rash decisions and come to regret them in the future. You should always put all the cards on the table before making a decision on your blogging future. Don’t jump into things before duing your due diligence.
- Beware of the fear: fear always plays a big part in our lives. Many folks are afraid of starting their own business as they fear the what-ifs and uncertainty that a business would bring to their lives. Fear drives some folks and stifles the rest, so the key is learn how to use fear to achieve more success.
Going back to a 9-5 job is a nightmare for anyone who’s started a business only to find out they are not going to make it. But sometimes it is inevitable. Having said that, you should not give up on your dream too early. If you do, you are going to regret it for the rest of your life.
