Blippy: Find Out What Others Are Buying?
I have seen and reviewed the work of many start-ups throughout the years. Some are very straight-forward as you know what to expect from them. But there are a select few that set themselves apart with their innovative ideas. While not all of them make it big, some of them offer very interesting tools and services. Blippy is a fairly new startup that lets you find out where your friends are spending their money. The service enables you to share your purchases on Amazon, iTunes, and other retailers with your friends. You can even go crazy and link your financial institutions with Blippy to have them better track your purchases.

I admit I am not exactly crazy about sharing what I am buying with the world. I do have my Amazon wish-lists and those actually protect my privacy better. I do like the interactive nature of this service though. But who am I kidding? I won’t be using this service to let the world know about my purchases. I would like to but as a business owner, I won’t have the time to play with this service for fun. I do however find the service exciting for digging data on where people are making their purchase and what they are buying.
As a blogger, you always need to keep a close eye one where the demand is. It’ll be certainly interesting to see how many people choose to share everything with the world. Wouldn’t it be nice to know where people are buying most of their things and how much they are spending money at each store? That can not only help you find more affiliate products to feature on your blog, but it’s also helpful in demonstrating what topics/products people are interested in on a given day. Blippy is currently in private beta. So it’s tough to test it out unless you have invitations to the program. The service does look interesting for those who won’t mind sharing their transactions information with others. But to me, it could be a data gold-mine. We have to wait and see how it turns out though.
